Carolyn Wonderland et al. for our dear friend Robin Kirby who recently had a heart attack and with that and other serious health issues ongoing, is in need of assistance to cover her past and ongoing medical expenses. She is in need of further surgery and is looking at an extended period of recovery, during which time she will be unable to work.

We have an impressive array of musicians who will be performing at the benefit. Our lineup includes Buddy Costlow, Wild Rabbit Salad, The Footnotes, Ginger Doss, and Carolyn Wonderland! We will have Mary Helen Holley of Bluz Katz Corner selling her Rock-n-Roll inspired attire and a silent auction of fabulous items to help add a little more to the coffers for Robin. We are asking for a donation of $10 (or more) per person at the door. This is a not for profit event and all proceeds benefit Robin Kirby’s fund for medical expenses. Holiday Benefit for Robin Kirby is a 501C-3 Non-Profit Corporation.

Robin Kirby entered the Texas scene in 2005 with the release of her 5 song demo Robin Revealed, simply a girl and her guitar… in 2006 Robin started her own band Robin Kirby & Friends, she was written up in the Texas Music News Magazine and is delighted to be #1 on Reverbnation.com in the local folk category. In 8 years she has built an amazing reputation as a Houston songwriter and bandleader. Kirby plays original music with an original sound.

Her recent performances include; Bob Marley fest in 2007 with a Reggae band called Mundo Tribe. Sharing the stage with some Great Reggae artists: Yellow Man, Riannah, Damien Marley, Inner Circle, 2010 Nominee Best Female vocalist – Houston Press, American Red Cross Hurricane Relief Benefit and The Ike Fest, 2011 Houston Women’s Music Festival jones plaza, Houston Pride mainstage, Clifton’s Music Fest, GoGirls Music Fest for UNOS in Houston and In NYC, Pride San Francisco, SXSW 2010, 2011, 2012, Bay Area Relief Fundraiser, Where the Girls are at Last Concert Cafe from 2012-2013,
Kirby has a new CD coming out in 2014 so stay tuned “Love” love songs from the heart is an awesome country album going back to her roots Kirby says it is her best work to date… recording in Montrose Studios with Richard Cagle.

Houston Texans Kick Off Party @ Kemah Boardwalk Sunday, Sept. 6th

Come celebrate the beginning of Texans Week with the Kickoff at Kemah. The whole family will enjoy live music, autographs from our Texans Cheerleaders and Ambassadors, among other exciting activities throughout the day.

TIME: 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. CT

ACTIVITIES: In addition to cool giveaways, Texans players will sign autographs, country music star Rich O’Toole will be performing and we’ll introduce our Bud Plaza band for the year – The Slags. Also, Texans Ambassadors, Texans Cheerleaders and TORO will sign autographs, and there will be a special performance by the cheerleaders.
